Once upon a time, as a disillusioned student and barman, I mentioned to a regular customer that I was looking for something new. He suggested coming to work at Freespace, and so began my life as a support worker. Initially it was a stopgap whilst I figured out what to do with my life, but I soon settled in and ten years later find myself recently promoted to DSM and still enjoying Freespace. Working with good people, for good people who are asking for little more than the chance to exercise their basic human rights, and all within a non-profit organisation – if you believe that what goes around comes around, there can’t be many better jobs to be doing.
